I’m going to make a little nonsense.
Lately, I’ve been constantly thinking about fashion. Okay, sure. That’s not too surprising considering who I am and what my interests are, but usually I’m not so irritated at it. I’m not sure what it is, but I have a vague belief that it has something to do with the lack of energy that I see in it.
If you are a lover of plain colors, ghastly prints and shapeless clothes then I do not mean to offend you. Fashion is, after all, all about the way you feel opposed to the way you look (I’ll revisit this later, but for now let’s continue). However, what about the color and the life? Just because it’s the fall it doesn’t mean we have to throw out every other color palette. Yes, the fall colors are lovely! The reds and the oranges make one feel so warm and fuzzy! It doesn’t mean we have to dress ourselves like a tree.
The colder it gets the more layers that become necessary. Just because we are wearing layers of solid colors we tend to think that we have put a spark in our outfit. Doesn’t anyone think it’s kind of…boring? Kind of safe? We don’t have to wait for the summer to be daring. It doesn’t take skin to be tantalizing. We can dramatic with the simple addition of a power print.
We can be outrageous with two – or maybe even three!
Only those who are willing to go beyond the safeness of solid colors and accepted prints will understand what I’m trying to say. Fashion is about a statement. It’s about…presenting ourselves in a way that makes us feel confident. It’s about feeling good, because don’t you feel good when you have properly conveyed what makes you happy?
A woman who feels alive in four inch heels will wear four inch heels and feel the superior for it. A man who prefers a kilt over a pair of designer jeans is more aware of his self than the man who hides behind his sweater vest. Being accepted by society is worthless when we must adhere to rules we did not even agree with in the first place.
Can’t we just…break those rules down?
Kanye West…really?
I know I’m not the only one who realizes that Kanye West is just a self-centered man, but sometimes I wonder why someone hasn’t really knocked some sense into him. I mean, why hasn’t someone just smacked him across the face? He surely needs it…
Interrupting someone’s acceptance speech! MY GOD! I honestly don’t know what this world is coming to. Kanye, I know we’ve never been on familiar terms before but can I just be frank? You are so full of bullshit, and you damn well know it. You are not sorry for what you did! You can’t be so stupid to not think about the repercussions of such an action! Then again, maybe I’m giving you too much credit.
I think you’re an asshole. I think everything you say is bogus. I think you are so incredibly fake that you make botox look real.

It’s my birthday!
Today I turned twenty.
Usually, I never feel as if I suddenly became a year older – I never really notice a difference. Today, though, I do feel old. I’m not sure if it’s just the stress from the coming move, but I feel as if I should have a full time job and my own place. Of course, other twenty-year-olds are off in college and/or working more hours than they honestly should. I feel that I lack responsibility.
I don’t have a job – let alone my own place. I don’t even have a car. I’ve never had to pay any bills because my parents have taken care of everything for me. I’m very lucky in that regard, but has it hurt me in some way?
Enough of that, though. It’s a joyous occasion, my birthday. I’ve always been very excited and happy about it, and today is no different. My dad woke me up extremely early this morning before he left for work just to give me a kiss on my cheek and tell me happy birthday. <3 He’s a great father. My mom woke me up at the exact time I was born and told me happy birthday. XD She’s very loving in her own quirky way. My brother waited for me to get up on my own, of course. He’s just that way. With his mouth full with something (I’m sure I couldn’t have identified it if I tried) he wished me a happy birthday, too.
I had a party last Saturday to celebrate this day and all of my closest friends attended. <3 Great people, the lot of them. Ha! One of my friends bought be this very cute pastel pink owl (it’s a piggy bank, but I’m not sure if I should call it an owl bank or what) and my friends stuffed it full of suckers (Jolly Rancher and Tootsie, actually) because they’re my favorite candy. After realizing I was wearing a Tootsie Pop t-shirt (with Mr. Owl on it even) we had a great big laugh. XD It’s just something we couldn’t have planed if we tried!
We spent the evening playing Apples to Apples, Monopoly, The Boogey Ball (an old child’s toy), more Apples to Apples and Clue. We also watched Monty Python’s Holy Grail. We meant to watch more Monty Python, but we never got around to it. XD Our silliness prevented such a thing.
Oh, Maria. You bought me a pair of lovely skinnies with that thur money you gave me. <3
P.S. I still haven’t fixed my About Me. =/ Well, no time like the present!
The cause of my sleepless nights.
I really do love my friends…and my books.

Guilty Pleasure?
Well, I decided to sit down and read the Southern Vampire Mysteries (or the Sookie Stackhouse Novels – whichever you prefer). Normally, I don’t really care to read the books that a t.v. show or movie was based off of. I’m a bit lazy like that, and I spend more of my time watching my entertainment than I do reading it. If I ever care to share my list of favorite books, you’ll notice that it’s not very large and it’s missing some of the more popular novels (that I have never cared to try reading). I guess…I’m more of a visual person.
But, as I said, I started reading the books that True Blood was based off of. Someone mentioned to me that Jason wasn’t nearly as stupid in the books as he is on the show so I just had to see for myself. I really don’t care for Jason at all when it comes to True Blood; however, he’s not so bad in the novels. My opinion of Godric also changes, but I really prefer the t.v. drama version! AH! I won’t spoil anything, I promise!
…I only mention this because I think I’ve become slightly addicted to it. ![]()
On Friday night I told my best friend that once I finish reading book three – Club Dead – I’d be going to sleep. I stopped reading when I was half way through book four, Dead to the World.
I really think I need to take a little break from the books, otherwise… Well, I won’t stop until I’m finished!
Personally, I don’t think they’re fantastic, but they’re still entertaining. I’m reading through them with a guilty addiction – almost the way I absorbed The Dresden Files after I read the second book (which was actually the first book of the series that I read). Hm… LOL, it’s not fair to put the two in the same category. They’re both entertaining, but The Dresden Files are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
Oh, btw. I ended up not sleeping until 10PM Saturday night. ![]()
CATCHING UP WITH ENTERTAINMENT
Because I am nothing more than a sloth who enjoys entertainment, I managed to watch all of True Blood in less than a day. Really, now. That shouldn’t be possible… Of course, I did sleep in between seasons, but as soon as I woke up I started all over again. Oh… Good times.
True Blood proved to be entertaining. At first…I thought it was just an okay show with an okay plot and I didn’t really understand the hype about it (I will continue to say that there is way too much sex for my taste). However, now that I’ve finished watching all that was released I can say that I am dying to see the next episode. It’s a drug – one of those shows that no matter how much you wish you weren’t addicted to it you just can’t help yourself. I won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it, but if you can tolerate vampires and red necks then I suggest giving it a look see. I won’t say it’s perfect or that is a must see, but it’s decent entertainment.
I have also missed the last three episodes of Warehouse 13, and I’ll probably try to catch up with that show today before going to bed. I find this show to be immensely entertaining. Peter Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) is probably my favorite character, and for the first time I find myself actually liking the female characters. Shock! I really need to catch up so I can learn more about Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) – I hope to find her to be likable, too.
Sadly, I have other shows that I’ve missed due to my laziness (actually, reading, but whatever). Let’s see… Burn Notice, Monk, Psyche, Royal Pains and Eureka are just a few. It seems like a lot, but I don’t believe I’ve missed too many episodes. Let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best!
With that said, I am super excited about the return of Bones and the new show White Collar! I’m seriously going to be very busy for the rest of this year… Watching T.V. shows and pretending to understand any deeper meaning they may portray – when, really, I just care about the entertainment value. ;D
I THINK I REALLY HATE MOVIE CRITICS
Honestly, I think I may truly hate them – every last one of them.
It’s probably due to the fact that we never see eye to eye – not entirely, anyway. While I may be able to sit around and listen to my friends’ opinions as to what made a movie great or horrible, I can’t truly deal with the opinions of critics. They sit up on their high horse – chattering away at whatever mindless imbecile that desires to take their word for fact – and spit at whatever they do not deem worthy. I cannot stand the holier than thou vibe they put off. It’s almost as if – because they don’t like something – they want to see its creator fail.
Ugh… Of course, because I don’t like them very much I don’t usually care to read what they have to say. Wouldn’t you know it, though, that almost all of my friends have to tell me about what this critic or what that critic has said about a movie I really liked? You may be thinking, “Oh, don’t fall into their diabolical plan to suck out all your happiness!” Yet, I do not listen.
It’s rather like watching a horror movie and telling the lead role to not go into the blasted bedroom because you know some hulking 6′5″ monster is waiting on the other side to REMOVE THEIR DAINTY LITTLE HEAD! Story of my freakin’ life, man.
So, yes. I – the person who has always believed that arguing about another’s opinion is pointless – hate movie critics. ; _ ; It’s a sad world we live in. A sad, sad world.
